It’s common for us to feel guilty and selfish for honoring ourselves with opportunities to relax, regroup, and unwind. Self-care is anything but a selfish indulgence; rather, it’s a practice that demands our total dedication and discipline. Learning to say “no” to demanding people, incorporating herbs into your daily routines, and adopting stress-relieving practices like meditation may require commitment and work, but is totally worth it when the end result is a more peaceful, productive and mindful YOU!

10 Simple Self-Care Practices

Breathe – Take a few minutes to focus on your breathing. Take a few deep breaths.
Make a cup of herbal tea – this is one of my favorite self-care practices and one I do every day. While enjoying your cup, set your intentions for the day, think about what you’re thankful or grateful for. Enjoy the simple peace of the moment.
Do a few yoga poses – Adding a few yoga poses into your day can help get circulation going and can help you relax and unwind.
Take a bath – another one of my favorites. There’s not much more soothing than to soak in some warm water. Make a ritual out of it. Add some herbs, light a candle, have a cup of tea with it and relax.
Take a walk (preferable in natural surroundings) – Taking a walk, especially in nature is soothing to the soul. Take in the sights, sounds and smells surrounding you.
Read a book – even if for just 20 minutes. Allowing yourelf the time to read can be like a gift to yourself. Not a reader? Look trough a magazine or a cookbook and pick out something you’d like to make.
Use essential oils – get yourself a diffuser and some essential oils. Take a few moments to take in their healing properties.
Give yourself an herbal steam – treat yourself to a mini-spa session with a ten minute herbal facial steam.
Meditate – Sitting down to clear your mind for just 10 minutes is enough to overcome stress and anxiety, a study claims. New research revealed that a short stint of meditation will help block out the internal thoughts of restless people and allow them to concentrate.
Write in a gratitude journal – Whether you’re having a fantastic day or a very challenging 24 hours, taking a few moments to jot down things for which you’re grateful sets a beautiful tone. People who reflect and express gratitude are just plain happier.
