Today, I’m going to share with you my favorite moisturizing face cream recipe.  I hope you’ll love it as much as I do.

As someone who prioritizes all-natural living, I love making my own skincare products because I know exactly what is in them. They are free from added chemicals and full of nourishing ingredients that benefit the skin. In my recent article about natural oils for skincare, I discussed the many benefits of using oils like jojoba, rosehip seed, and almond oil. These oils are not only gentle on the skin but also packed with vitamins and antioxidants. As long as you are sourcing your oils from reputable sources, you can be confident of their quality.

Here is my go-to all-natural moisturizing face cream. This recipe combines some of my favorite oils and butters to create a rich, hydrating cream that leaves my skin feeling soft and rejuvenated. Enjoy the process of making your own skincare and feel good knowing exactly what you’re putting on your skin.

Where to Source Ingredients

Are you wondering where to source your skincare ingredients? I highly recommend purchasing them from Mountain Rose Herbs. They are my favorite place to buy high-quality, organic dried herbs, herbal product, and skincare supplies. As a company, they believe in people and planet over profit and only ever source their herbs and other products ethically and sustainably. It is through this ethical, responsible sourcing, that they are able to offer one of the largest selections of certified organic herbs, spices, and botanicals in North America.

Moisturizing Face Cream Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
  • 1 tablespoon hemp seed oil
  • 1 tablespoon rose hip seed oil
  • 1 tablespoon shea butter
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa butter
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons beeswax
  • 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil
  • 2 tablespoons hydrosol (your choice)
  • 3 to 4 drops essential oils (your choice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon leucidal liquid sf (as a preservative)

Instructions:

  1. Melt Oils and Waxes: Combine the olive oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, hemp seed oil, rose hip seed oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, and beeswax in the top of a double boiler over low heat. Stir constantly until the beeswax is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

  2. Cool Mixture: Remove from heat and allow to cool for 15 minutes.

  3. Blend and Emulsify: Pour the cooled mixture into a blender. Remove the center hole from the blender cap to allow for adding ingredients while blending. Turn the blender on to medium speed and slowly add the hydrosol in a thin, steady stream. Continue blending until the mixture thickens to a pudding-like consistency, which can take a few minutes.

  4. Add Essential Oils and Preservative: Once the desired consistency is reached, add the essential oils, vitamin E oil, and leucidal liquid sf. Blend for another 30 seconds to ensure everything is well combined.

  5. Jar and Store: Pour the cream into two sterilized 2oz glass jars. Allow to cool to room temperature before screwing on the lids. Store the jar you’re currently using at room temperature and the other in the refrigerator to preserve its beneficial compounds.
