moon milk recipe

This post is all about how to make the best pumpkin spice moon milk recipe, a delicious drink that has been made for centuries. Moon milk is a relatively new trend to many people, but it actually has its roots in the ancient Indian tradition of Ayurvedic medicine, as well in other indigenous cultures around the world for healing and wellness purposes.

Made of warm milk and a soothing blend of spices and adaptogens, moon milk may help you relax, making it a perfect treat right before you go to bed.

The moon milk recipe I am going to share with you today is a pumpkin spice version of this fall favorite. This drink is rich in calcium and vitamin D and immune boosting spices, which makes it the perfect way to refuel after an intense workout or stay healthy during cold season. Plus, it tastes wonderful and is just so good to sip on a crisp fall morning.

Moon milks were traditionally prepared at night when there would be enough natural light from the moon shining on plants to help them to grow more intimately in fertile ground. For me, making my own moon milk isn’t just about drinking something good and healthy for me- it’s about honoring my ancestors who have come before me and remembering their wisdom, something I am passionately striving for in my life.

Adding pumpkin to your moon milk is a great way to boost the immune system with its high antioxidant content and anti-inflammatory compounds.

If you love pumpkins then I think you’ll really enjoy this velvety, rich, and flavorsome pumpkin spice moon milk recipe full of anti-inflammatory spices. It embodies everything we love about the Autumn season.

I’ve been drinking a lot of Moon Milk lattes the past weeks and enjoying different flavors, but this pumpkin spice combination is my favorite so far.

Golden Pumpkin Spiced Moon Milk is the perfect tonic for a full moon in the sky. It is also the perfect beverage to celebrate Mabon, which is celebrated on the Autumnal equinox and just so happens to take place right after the full moon. What are YOU ready to celebrate? Are you ready to harvest all of the hard work you have been doing? Change is the air over here, and I’ve seen it going on for everyone else too. It can be bittersweet, emotional, a time for letting go, in order to make room for the new harvest. Whip up this warm, soothing latte to help you ease gently into this new season.

Equipment for Making Moon Milk Recipe

There isn’t much equipment needed to make this moon milk recipe.  You really only need a small saucepan, something to make your liquid frothy like a milk frother or a blender.  I find a blender to be more effective if you’re making more than a single cup.  For a single serving, the frother works great.  Other than that, all you really need are some measuring spoons and cups, and a mug to put it in.

Ingredients

This moon milk recipe makes one serving, but can easily be doubled or tripled if needed.

Tip: Use a larger saucepan and a blender for frothing if making larger batches.

  • 1.5 cup of almond, coconut milk, or other milk of your choice
  • 1 teaspoon of honey, monkfruit, or the sweetener of your choice – I prefer honey or swerve sweetener
  • 1 tablespoon of pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 teaspoon of pumpkin spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cardamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ashwaganda
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • a pinch of black pepper (helps with the absorption of the anti-inflammatory properties in the turmeric).
