Servings 6 2 oz. bars

Ingredients

For the Dandelion Infused Oil:

For the Lotion Bars:

  • 1/2 cup dandelion-infused oil from above
  • 3 ounces beeswax pastilles
  • 4 ounces shea butter
  • 15-30 drops essential oils optional

Instructions

For the Infused Oil:

  • Spread fresh dandelions on a drying screen for 24 hours. Don't let them puff into seeds!
  • Place the wilted dandelions in a jar along with olive oil, melted coconut oil, and sweet almond oil. Cover the jar with a lid and shake well.
  • Place your jar of dandelion oil in a sunny location for two weeks, gently shaking it every day or two.
  • After 2 weeks, use a fine-mesh sieve to strain the dandelion flowers from the infused oil.
  • Tip: If the coconut oil has solidified, place the jar in a pan of warm water to melt it gently before straining.

Make the Lotion Bars:

  • Set up a double boiler by placing a smaller pan, bowl, or glass measuring cup over a larger pan with simmering water (about an inch or two deep).
  • Measure out 1/2 cup of the dandelion-infused oil and set aside the rest for other uses.
  • Add the oil and beeswax pastilles to the double boiler and heat until completely melted.
  • Once melted, remove the pan from heat and stir in the Shea or cocoa butter until fully incorporated.
  • If desired, add 15–30 drops of your favorite essential oils for fragrance.
  • Quickly pour the melted mixture into silicone molds before it hardens.
  • Allow the lotion bars to cool and solidify completely, which may take several hours. Once set, pop them out of the molds and store them in tins or other containers.
